Isaiah 66:17,22: "These people ......... eat the meat of PIGS and RATS (to this very day people in some countries such as Malawi eat cooked mice) and OTHER HATEFUL THINGS (forbidden aquatic creatures or forbidden "creeping things"). But they will all be DESTROYED together,' says the Lord ......... 22 I will make NEW HEAVENS and the NEW EARTH which will last forever ........." --- New Century Version. This great prophet has already predicted many things that have come true. Therefore we can safely and reasonably assume that his prediction, (involving "unclean" meats) that all who eat pork, mice, and all other "abominable" creatures in the distant future will be mercilessly killed, will actually some day come true. Isaiah 65:17,25 and 66:22 show that these two chapters, where the words "swine's flesh" and "Sabbath" appear, refer to a FUTURE age that has not yet arrived, a time when the earth will be literally reshaped into a new earth, an age when Jesus Christ will have returned in great glory. In this future new age even some animals will be changed since Isaiah 65:25 reveals that even lions and wolves will peacefully eat grass like sheep, instead of eating meat. To deliberately and knowingly break holy dietary laws well known all over the world even after Jesus has returned as the ruling King during the millenium, is a sign of utter contempt for the Lord, and utter contempt for His will. Such lack of respect for our Creator also implies a potential lack of respect or love towards people, which can sooner or later result in "offending" others, something that will not be tolerated in God's eternal kingdom (editing -- I'll quote a verse soon that specifies no one will "offend" in His kingdom). ............... 2 CORINTHIANS 6:17: "Come out, then, from among them ........, separate yourselves from them, and do not even TOUCH what is UNCLEAN ........" --- Knox New Testament. If we are commanded to not even touch unclean meats, we most definitely cannot eat them. Mainstream Christians routinely touch and eat bacon, crabs, pizza with pork contaminated pepperoni, and Vibrio vulnificus filled oysters. The above is a New Testament verse that provides proof that the dietary laws are still valid, which also implies that many other Mosaic laws are still valid, too. The original Greek word for "touch" is haptomai, defined by Thayer as "....... to fasten to ....... adhere to, cling to, ....... to touch ......." In accordance with other commentators Thayer further defines haptomai as "....... have no intercourse with the Gentiles, no fellowship in their heathenish practices ....... the things not to be touched appear to be both women (unbelievers) and certain kinds of food (forbidden food) ....... " The original Greek word for "unclean" in the above verse is akathartos, which in accordance with Thayer is defined as "....... that which must be abstained from according to the LEVITICAL law, lest impurity be contracted ......." which of course would include food. ............. If you will carefully read the verses mainstream Christians use to try to prove that the Mosaic dietary laws have been done away with, you will find that they totally ignore the definition of pivotally important original Greek words in those verses and/or totally ignore the general context of that verse, twisting it around to try to make that verse mean something incorrect. These people, for some reason, seem to refuse, steadfastly, to thoroughly research those verses with an open, unbiased mind, insisting that the sometimes sloppily translated English verses are always correct, with no exceptions. Try talking to such a Christian about why they believe the dietary laws have supposedly been abolished, and they'll probably mumble a few words in some commonly quoted verses. But if you try to patiently analyze those verses word by word right in front of them, they'll probably just walk away, refusing to listen to you. Many and probably most mainstream Christians have never even read Isaiah 66:17. Most or all of those Scriptures they use are correctly explained on my VERSES MAINSTREAMERS USE page. Trying to ignore the meaning of original Hebrew words in these simple, plain Isaiah verses or trying to twist the meaning of Isaiah 66:17 is a much more formidable task, so much so that it just cannot be done by even mainstream Christians. So if we foolishly believe their false doctrine that the dietary laws have been abolished, mindlessly assuming that the majority must be right, we are forced to believe that Isaiah is a liar concerning the above verses (in the 1950's 4 out of 5 doctors smoked cigarettes, trusting that the majority must be right, until they were told later that cigarettes can kill them with lung cancer). Are you really going to call Isaiah a liar, thereby implying that God Himself, Who inspired the recording of every single original Hebrew and Greek word in the Bible, is also a Liar? | |
